The Tower of London
The Tower of London was designed by William the Conqueror in 1070. The Tower was the home of English kings and queens. It was also called “The royal residence”. It was a prison for the prisoners of the Tudors. The Tudors were a Welsh family, who ruled the kingdom of England from 1485 until 1603. The Tower held many famous prisoners from the highest levels of society. Now it is the most famous of all the English Medieval castles and the Tower is mainly a museum. Besides, the Crown Jewels are kept there, too. The Imperial State Crown is the highlight of the jewels, which has 2,868 diamonds alone, 273 pearls , 17 sapphires, 11 emeralds and 5 rubies. Equally famous is the oldest museum “Royal Armories”, which shows the collection of weaponry. There is another museum, which shows what life was like in the luxurious Medieval Palace. The original Tower is called – the White Tower, which is 27,4 meters high and 4,6 meter wide. Especially famous is the legend of “the Ravens”. If they leave the tower one time, the kingdom will fall. We think people want to visit the Tower of London, because they want to see the magnificent Crown Jewels and how the royals lived. If you want to visit the Tower of London, it´s best to go there by Underground, but you can also go there by train, bus, riverboat and sightseeing buses.

The Tower Bridge
The planer of the Tower Bridge was Horace Jones. The Tower Bridge is near the Tower of London and over the river Thames. The bridge is very famous, because first it was the only bridge in London. It has only been a short time since you can also get married on the Tower Bridge. You will never forget this wedding. We think people want to visit the Tower Bridge, because you have a wonderful view over the Thames and London.

Our experiences in London
The Tower of London
We didn´t see so much of the Tower, because we didn´t visit it. We just saw it from the outside. But it looked very antique, big and beautiful. It was very interesting to see the magnificent sight and we could imagine how the royals lived. It was a pity that we couldn´t go inside the Tower but we will go to London another time and go inside the Tower.
The Tower Bridge
On our first day in London we went on a boat-trip on the River Thames and passed underneath the Tower Bridge. Later we walked over the bridge. It was a special moment for us because the Bridge is very famous and we had already seen pictures of it in our schoolbook. Unfortunately we didn´t go inside. But we had a great view over the Thames and into the city.
